Iowa school shooting suspect Dylan Butler’s life under scrutiny
In recent days, the name of Dylan Butler, a 17-year-old American boy, has been circulating extensively on the internet. The reason for his sudden rise to notoriety? He has been identified as the shooting suspect in a rural Iowa school. Butler, who was known for his activity on TikTok, is believed to have been part of the LGBTQ community, as evidenced by the pride flag in his TikTok bio.
Following his identification as the shooter, inquiries concerning Butler’s family life and parental background surged online. However, despite the public interest, little is known about his parents, as they have kept a low profile.
Butler’s upbringing was reportedly quiet yet troubled – he was a victim of prolonged bullying since his elementary school days. This insight comes from a family who knew Butler, including Yesenia Roeder and Khamya Hall and their mother, Alita. They reported to the Associated Press that Butler’s breaking point came when his younger sister also became a target of bullying.
It is currently unclear how many family members Dylan Butler had, as they have kept themselves out of the media spotlight in the wake of this tragic event. It is known, however, that he did have a younger sister, but her name remains undisclosed.
Butler’s ethnicity and origins have also piqued the interest of many, yet verified media outlets have not provided any concrete information on this matter.
In his final days, Butler was a senior at Perry High School. He was also an online LGBTQ activist who used He/they pronouns. In addition to being known for his TikTok presence and his tragic role in the Iowa school shooting, he was found to be in possession of a pump-action shotgun and handgun – both of which are illegal for a 17-year-old to obtain in Iowa.
Moreover, Butler had an undetonated rudimentary explosive device, which was later neutralised by fire marshals. The young man’s life came to a tragic end as he died from a self-inflicted gunshot before emergency responders arrived at the school, shortly after 7:40 am.
